Hello.

Welcome to the online gallery of the Master Performing Public Space.

On this platform we collect and present the projects created by our students throughout our one-year Master program.

FACE FIGHT – FREEZE FLIGHT

FACE FIGHT – FREEZE FLIGHT

‘Face Fight – Freeze Flight’ focuses on the notion of ‘paralyzed imagination’ in the Israeli public sphere. On the one hand, the imagination of alternative coexistences becomes impaired by life in a society engulfed by longlasting conflict, and on the other hand, imagination is a hopeful act of resistance, challenging the ethos of conflict and routine of emergency upheld by public constructs in such societies. The first phase of the research followed a relational approach, creating interactive, safe, third spaces for the reimagination and renegotiation of public constructs (media, political structures, national movements). The second phase of the research followed an autoethnographic approach, through which I performatively exhaust and thereby challenge my own routines of the paralyzed imagination. By use of repetition and overidentification of my own ‘stuckness’ in conflict and emergency, its juxtaposition to public spaces, and its documentation through photography, I explore the embodiment and reproduction of the ethos of conflict in my society’s public spaces and in my personal narrative.
