PERFORMING SAFER SPACES / WELCOME TO MY BUBBLE

PERFORMING SAFER SPACES / WELCOME TO MY BUBBLE

The new normal of a (post ) pandemic era: What will it be? Structural seggregation of groups of people of the same kind in public urban spaces has narrowed down to self advised even smaller, tiny bubbles during the Covid 19 pandemic. We started regarding other humans as a potential danger, according to sociologist Frank Furedi, with this leading to a demand for inverted quarantine, and more safer[r] spaces for marginalized groups. I want to highlight the pandemics’ function of a magnifying glass for the hidden unbalanced‚ normal’ and it’s inequalities. In this project WELCOME TO MY BUBBLE I am therefore working with the Covid 19 experiences of city dwellers of my home town Hamburg, Germany. From what they share I create audiowalks that are accessible for listening and reaction in public space via qr codes. My aim is to give a space to artvent to create audiotracks that raise empathy as well as questions on what we want the proposed new normal to be like. #Art Venting: Emotional venting to an artist in an interview. The artist transforms the collected new knowledge into an artwork. #Emphathizing: Raising Empathy. Emphasizing needs and boundaries.
